Candidates participate in continuous formative evaluations throughout the course, utilising interactive knowledge checks an scenario-based practice questions to track progress. Summative evaluation is conducted via the official invigilated PeopleCert ITIL® Foundation (Version 5) examination, a 60-minute closed-book assessment comprising 40 multiple-choice questions. Candidates must achieve a score of 65% (26 out of 40) or higher to demonstrate foundational competency and earn their official certification.
Achieving Foundation status opens direct pathways into pivotal operational and service roles, including Service Desk Lead, IT Support Specialist, Junior Service Delivery Manager, and Product Owner Assistant. Successful candidates are ideally positioned to advance towards higher-tier ITIL (Version 5) designations, including specialised module pathways in ITIL Product, ITIL Service, ITIL Experience, or ITIL Strategy. Furthermore, this qualification provides an authoritative conceptual benchmark for progressing towards executive post-candidate study in enterprise digital transformation and IT governance.
There are no formal academic or technical prerequisites required to enrol in this foundational programme, making it accessible to aspiring IT specialists, service leads, and non-technical business stakeholders alike. Candidates lacking formal qualifications are welcomed through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), drawing upon practical workplace experience in IT support, customer service, or operational administration. A basic awareness of general business operations and digital technology environments is recommended to ensure optimal learning success.
