Key Details

The CompTIA Data+ credential provides a baseline benchmark for enterprise data analytics knowledge and practical business intelligence skills. Designed for data analysts, business intelligence specialists, and reporting managers, this qualification covers data mining, exploratory analysis, statistical methods, visualisation, and data governance frameworks. Upskilling your technical workforce with Data+ instils analytical rigour across your business operations. It ensures staff can interpret complex datasets, derive actionable insights, and communicate findings effectively, optimising operational performance and ensuring your organisation makes informed, data-driven decisions.

Candidates participate in continuous formative evaluations throughout the programme, engaging with interactive knowledge checks, dataset manipulation exercises, and scenario-based practice modules to track analytical progress. Summative evaluation is conducted via the official invigilated CompTIA Data+ (DA0-001) examination, a 90-minute closed-book assessment comprising up to 90 multiple-choice and performance-based scenario items. Candidates must achieve a minimum passing score of 675 (on a scale of 100–900) to demonstrate technical proficiency and earn their credential.

Achieving CompTIA Data+ certification opens direct entry into vital analytical roles, including Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Operations Analyst, and Marketing Data Specialist. Successful candidates are well-positioned to advance towards specialised security or data engineering pathways, including CompTIA CySA+, AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate, or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate. Furthermore, this qualification provides a rigorous academic foundation for entry into executive post-candidate programmes in business analytics and data governance.

While there are no mandatory academic or technical prerequisites, candidates should ideally possess basic digital literacy and an awareness of foundational business metrics. Applicants lacking formal academic qualifications are welcomed through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), leveraging practical experience in administrative support, customer operations, or junior reporting roles. Prior exposure to basic spreadsheet functions, database querying, or elementary statistics will further support successful learning outcomes.
